Polycarbonate Enclosures

My 370 Carver is in the process of receiving new canvas.  The aft deck is surrounded by Makrolon Polycarbonate and sunbrella exterior canvas with stamoid lining the inside for superior durability and ease of maintenance.  All of the seams are stitched with a gore tex thread that is not susceptible to breakage, leaking or fraying like other canvas threads.

The photos show the custom bridge cover I had made this spring to make it easier to take on and off during the summer months when I like to go topless on the bridge.

The bridge will receive the same treatment as the aft deck with the exception of using a softer strataglass material that is able to be rolled and stored easier than the aft enclosure which I leave up 90% of the time.

Andrew Brandon from Ship Shape Canvas is the artisan behind all of this and I can't say enough great things about the work he has performed for my customers as well as myself.  The work is truly second to none.

Andy works South Haven, St. Joseph / Benton Harbor, New Buffalo, Michigan City, And Chicago Harbors and can be reached at (269)-325-2525
Let him know that Ray sent you!

Here are some other examples of his work:
So clear its like its not even there!

  1. We commissioned this person to make our canvas in September of 2014 and it still is not done. He collected 2/3 of our money in a personal check in September and has not contacted us 9 months later to say our canvas was ready to be fitted. This is after missing about a half a dozen other deadlines that he set. He then has the wherewithal to demand cash or a certified check for the remaining balance prior to the final canvas fitting. I strongly think you should try other options for boat canvas.
